Uniform Letter and Rules

Dear Parents and Students,

Due to problems encountered in caring for the uniforms, we are asking that some changes be made in the uniform policy. Students need to become more responsible in caring for their uniforms.

The band camp's fee covers the cost of cleaning the uniform three times. Last year several students needed to have their uniforms cleaned every week due to the careless manner in which they treated their uniforms. This year, the students will be responsible for reimbursing the band for cleaning their uniform after it has been cleaned three times or if their uniform has food or drink stains on it. The fee to have the uniform cleaned is $12.00.

Additionally, if the uniforms are damaged, students will be responsible for replacing the items damaged at the following replacement rate:

                                                Bibbers-      94.50

                                                Baldric-       83.45

                                                Coat  -        $253.70

                                                Cape  -        49.19

                                                Hat    -        50.00

                                                Hat Box-      4.00

                                                Plume -        12.00

                                                Total  -        $546.84

Please find attached a list of rules regarding the care and wearing of the uniform. Please read and sign the attached forms showing that you and your student have read and understand the rules, and return to the band box. Another copy is attached for you to keep at home for reference.

Students are responsible for buying and replacing gloves as needed. Gloves, henleys, and uniform shoes will be purchased from the band store during band camp. The show shirt is included in the band camp fee. There will be someone from the band store available before football games and competitions to sell gloves and socks.

Uniform Rules

1.  Uniforms are checked out before games and checked in after games. They are not taken home. Uniforms will be checked out at designated times with the assistance of a uniform committee volunteer.

2.  Sprite or water are the only liquids which can be consumed while wearing the uniform. Other drinks stain.

3.  Do not eat food, candy, or Kool-Aid products while wearing the uniform jacket.

4.  When not wearing the uniform jacket, the jacket should be folded inside out and placed on the Tiger bag where it will not be walked on or stepped on by others. The Tiger Henley shirt and the show shirts are the only shirts which can be worn with the uniform. If not wearing the Henley or show shirt, the jacket cannot be removed.

5.  Hat Boxes are part of the uniform and should be treated with care. They should not be dropped or kicked across the room.

6.  When the uniform is checked in after games, the student is responsible for telling the uniform checkers if there are any problems: for example, problems with hems, buttons, zippers, snaps, hats, or hatboxes.

7.  Students are responsible for hanging their uniforms up properly after use. This includes hanging the pants on the crease lines and buttoning and zipping the jacket. The baldric should be attached to the side with Velcro.

8.  Each student should purchase a package of Shout wipes to keep in his/her hat box for spot cleaning of uniforms. These helped to prevent some unnecessary cleaning last year.

9.  The tiger bag should never be carried on the same side as the baldric and cape. The added weight of the bag will tear off the buttons.

10. The student will be responsible for any costs incurred due to abuse or excessive cleaning (more than three).

11. Failure to follow the rules may result in being assigned detention to be served in the uniform room.
