It started out small as an idea by Kenny Beard to take his band to London for the New Years Day Parade. After a year and a half of planning, fundraising, and individual saving by 225 families to raise the $1850.00 needed to participate, the dream became reality.

Planning included a three-day summertime reconnaissance trip to London to check the facilities, hotel, parade route and details for the trip, as well as the boxing, crating and shipping of 150 uniforms and over 200 concert and marching instruments. There were concert and parade drill practices starting the week after football season and concluding the day before we left. The entire group had to apply for passports and arrange for vacation time off work. Planning also included obtaining the permission from the FCBOE for a trip of this magnitude and the blessings of the principal, Dr. Warr, not to mention the massive amount of paperwork to handle the transfer of funds to London, the assignment of rooms and chaperones, and the flight manifests for five overseas flights.

Was it worth it? A resounding YES. The students, parents, chaperones, and shadow tour members all will hold this trip as a shining focus of their High School years...
